TRR:  Could you tell us about how your band formed and what inspired you to start making music together?

OBJ: Originally we all started as a classic rock cover band called The Doughboys but our guitar player, Austin, was aware of the fantastic NC Music scene and knew with our chemistry as a band and what kind of music we all liked we could add a dynamic that wasn't originally there.

TRR:  What would you say sets your music apart from other emerging rock bands today?

OBJ: We all have vastly different backgrounds of music and never ever want to stick to one sound or influence, we're always trying something new. Our song's themes and lyrics are also a contrast to other bands. We've covered topics from death and the meaninglessness of life to Epic Fantasy, to spiders with social anxiety, childish pranks and us practicing in our basement.

TRR:  How would you describe your band's sound and style? Are there any specific artists or bands that have influenced your music?

OBJ:  We have always wanted to make visceral high energy music with an emphasis on hitting your senses hard, without being considered high brow or overbearing. Our emphasis is on the emotions and the feeling the song gives you over making a statement or trying to show off. There are so many artist that we take and inspire from individually, but we have always loved artist like Rush, Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and the Mars Volta. This music attacks you and completely envelops you into what you're listening to.

TRR:  What has been the biggest challenge your band has faced so far, and how did you overcome it?

OBJ:  The biggest challenges so far have been navigating the music scene and figuring out how to get our music exposed. We have been very lucky to be able to play some of the great venues in Charlotte and surrounding areas as well as play with some truly amazing bands. Trying to get our music out there on a large scale is super challenging though. In talking with other bands, that seems to be a universal issue.

TRR:  Can you share a memorable moment from one of your performances or recording sessions that stands out to you?

OBJ: Last time we were at the Milestone Club our drummer Wyatt threw his shoe onto the stage and someone yelled "everyone take off their shoes!!". We had about 20 pairs of shoes on the stage and if you know the milestone you know that's a very daring move on the audience's part. Long live the shoe pile!

TRR:  What are your short-term and long-term goals as a band? Where do you see yourselves in the next few years?

OBJ:  Short term we really just want to continue with building our fanbase coming out with a new ep and improving our musicianship. Long term for us would be becoming a full time touring bandwhile staying true to ourselves as both musicians, friends and people.

TRR:  How do you approach songwriting as a band? Is it a collaborative process, or does each member contribute individually?

OBJ: For the most part it's all collaborative. Every once in a while someone will come with a full song but everyone voices their feelings towards it and says what they would do to change it so once all the minute details are finished, it's the whole band's song. Most of the time we either have parts we try to hodge podge together, or someone will have a riff and we finish the song based on what that song elicits to us musically.
