TRR:  Hey Guys!  This is my version of Rapid Fire Interview!  Hope you're ready because here it comes.  Music fans like to know about the bands so let's start off with the name, BADGUYSWIN.  What's that about?

BGW:    We threw around a lot of band names in the beginning, but none of them were notable to even remember. One that I do remember was “Summitless.” We knew we wanted a sort of play on words, so when BadGuysWin was suggested, we appreciated the irony, as we don’t really believe that the bad guys should win.

 

TRR: Some girls do!  Who are the players?

BGW:  I’m Shane Sherman, vocals and guitar, Zak Waterlow plays drums and Alex (Sexi Lexi) Huber plays bass and vocals.

 

TRR: How did all of you meet? 

BGW:  Alex and Zak had been playing in a band in high school and I was playing in a different band. Our bands ended up playing many shows together (house parties, school functions and even the aquatic center).

 

TRR: These days, there's all kinds of musical genres and sub-genres.  Let's hear it.  Where do you guys fall in line? 

BGW:  We kind of encompass a lot of genres. Grunge, Hard Rock, Punk Rock, Stoner Rock and Southern Rock could all be applied to our music. We’d like to think that we have something to offer any Rock fan.

 

TRR: What do you think makes your band stand out from others?

BGW: I think that having a variety of rock styles in our music makes our band stand out. Each track on our album is different then the last. We have a lot to offer someone who is looking for variety in the rock genre.

 

TRR: Do you think that rock music is still alive and kicking? 

BGW: Rock 'N Roll will never die! It may waver in popularity, but it is always around in some form or another.

 

TRR: Who are some of your musical influences?

BGW: The Melvins, Big Wreck, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Corrosion of Conformity.

 

TRR:  A brief synapsis....how do you guys write your music?

BGW: I write the songs at home, typically on an acoustic guitar. Once i’m happy with initial product, I take it to the jam space so we can all tweak it. Zak adds drums, Alex adds bass and we all work together to make it a cohesive song.

 

TRR: Any bands that you'd like to collaborate with?

BGW: I am a huge fan of Ian Thornley and Big Wreck, so I would love to get his voice singing on one of  my tracks.

 

TRR: Love Big Wreck!  A very underrated band.  What other bands would you like to tour with?

BGW: In a dream scenario, we would love to play arena rock shows. So Pearl Jam, Alice in Chains would be amazing.

 

TRR: What is your most memorable show, good or bad?

BGW: We played a festival in Kelowna, BC called the Okanagan Craft Brew and Tattoo Festival. It featured tattoo artists from all over Canada, and local craft beer and food trucks. It was a great time on a big stage with amazing bands.

 

TRR: What would be your dream show?

BGW: Our dream show would be to build a giant UFO. We would fly a thousand of our earth fans into outer space to meet with a thousand of our alien fans (who don’t quite understand rock yet..). We would have a gigantic pizza pool party in zero gravity.

 

TRR: What has been your craziest fan interaction?

BGW: Just your local drunk that takes up as much as possible in front of the merch booth for an extended period of time, and then walks away without buying anything. Pretty typical of all bands, I’d say.

 

TRR: What’s on the table for the rest of the year?  Being that we're still in a pandemic, has this changed things?

BGW: We have been taking the time to write new music and work on our second album.
